1. Submit an Express Entry profile: Online form
Apply to travel, study, work, do business, or immigrate to Canada. The first step is to fill up the express entry form available online. If a candidate is found eligible, we offer the following.
- Place the eligible candidate in a pool of other qualified candidates.
- Give a score and rank to the candidate based on relevant factors.
- Invite the candidate with the highest rank to apply for permanent residency in Canada.
NOTE: A candidate may apply ONLY if we sent an invitation for you to use. Completion of the online profile or entering the pool of eligible candidates does not guarantee an invitation for permanent residency to Canada.
– Answer the following questions to know if you’re eligible.
The eligibility questionnaire helps you to know if you’re eligible to apply for the immigration process. It takes only 15 minutes to complete answering the questions.
Suppose you’re married or have a common-law partner. In that case, either of you must be the principal applicant, submit the online profile, listing your spouse in the form. The principal or main applicant is expected to.
- Fulfill the required eligibility criteria.
- Earn most of the points in the selection factors if they are applying under the Federal Skilled Workers Program.
- Earn higher points in the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) set by express entry. The tool assesses scores and ranks your profile in the pool based on your skills, eligibility, work, language ability, among other factors. It provides a personal referral code to each candidate, moving your information into the profile.
– Creating the express entry profile.
All eligible candidates receive an online account for filling out the express entry profile. If you are one of the selected candidates, follow the steps mentioned below.
- If you don’t have an account already, follow the instructions to create an account.
- Upon receiving the personal referral code, please enter it in the profile when it prompts you to.
- Enter your details as required.
- Sign in to your account or register using either of the following options. Either sign in to your account using the GCKey use ID and password. Or, use a sign-in partner like online Canadian banking information if you have one with one of our partners.
- For profile completion, you will need-
- Some relevant documents. Passport or travel documents, language test results, proof ofwork experience, provincial nomination, to anime, a few.
- The National Occupational Classification (NOC) job title and code.
All information is saved in your account. Hence, you may exit the profile anytime. The express entry profile must be completed and submitted within 60 days from the invitation date. Upon submission, we help you to figure out the most appropriate immigration program suiting your profile.
2. Submit an Express Entry profile: What to do while you wait in the pool
When you are in the pool of eligible candidates, we may invite you to apply for Canadian citizenship. The application must be submitted within 60 days from the invitation date.
– Keep the relevant documents ready.
The candidates must keep the documents ready beforehand. This reduces the hassle of assembling documents within 60 days.
– Language test results.
The language test results are valid for up to 2 years from the date of result release. Besides, they must be valid till the time you apply for a Canadian residentship. If the results expire before you apply for permanent residency, try the following.
- Get tested again or,
- Apply prior to result expiry, if possible.
- Decline the invite and return to the pool to be considered shortly.
Apply for permanent residence with valid test results, failing which will result in application rejection.
– Police certificate.
You require a police certificate for yourself or any of your family members aged 18 years and above. Certain countries take longer than others to issue police certificates. Apply for the certificate while in the pool to complete the application within 60 days with relevant documents.
– Search for a job using Job Match.
- Create a Job Match account with Job Bank. The Job Bank is a database helping you match potential employers looking for employees with your skillset.
- Upon submitting the profile, a Job Seeker Validation code is given to you. You may keep using the Job Bank to find jobs using the code after arriving in Canada.
- Lastly, sign up with the Job Bank to get started.
Try improving your score in the pool.
A higher score in the pool of candidates increases your chance of being invited to apply:
- By receiving a valid job offer using Job Bank or promoting oneself to Canadian employers using private sector boards.
- Contact the province or territory to consider you for a Provincial Nominee Program.
- Improving the education and language score.
- Gain relevant work experience.
Keeping the profile updated.
- Make sure all relevant information in the profile is up-to-date and true. Make necessary updates in case of dynamic situations like-
- Lose or gain a job
- Commence new career
- Receive a new language test
- Adopt or have a child
- Get married or divorced.
- In case you provide us with false information or leave out relevant details, we may-
- Refuse to process your application.
- Find it non-permissible.
- Prohibit from entering Canada for five years.
3. Express Entry rounds of invitations
Candidates are ranked in the pool through a point-based system called Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS). The highest-ranking candidates are chosen to apply for permanent residency.
● Every round of invitations follows a set of instructions which are-
- Posted during the invitation round.
- Entry express round uses this to invite candidates from the pool.
- The instructions cover-
- Time and date of the invitation round.
- Number of candidates getting invitations to apply.
- The immigration program/s is included in a single round.
Keep your score in check to understand how likely you can get an invitation into the next round.
4. Submit an Express Entry profile: Respond to an invitation
– Respond to the invitation offered to apply.
- If you are inviting an eligible candidate to apply for permanent Canadian citizenship, you will receive either of the following messages in your account.
- Which of the programs you are invited to apply for.
- What are the following procedures to follow?
- You need to provide valid proof of the information in your profile. We need to cross-check it with the information on the application to check its authenticity. If information is left out or is false, we may-
- Reject your application.
- Find you non-acceptable.
- Bar you from entering Canada for five years.
Apply for permanent residence, citizenship, or sponsor your family member with a Canada visa. Sign in to your account and click on the link for permanent residency if invited to apply. Provide relevant documents with the profile and submit them within 60 days.
–Requirements of the program.
The express entry covers three programs, namely-
- Federal Skilled Trades Program
- Federal Skilled Worker Program
- Canadian Experience Class
The territories and provinces may also recruit candidates using the Provincial Nominee Program, meeting the local labor market needs.
By understanding each of the program requirements, you can decide whether you should accept an invitation to apply or not.
– Personal Changes
- In case of situational changes, recalculate your scores prior to applying for permanent residency.
- If the recalculated score is comparatively less than the lowest score in your invitation rounds, you must decline the invitation. However, if you still apply, we have to reject your application without refunding the application fee.
- The low score may be due to the following-
- No valid offer
- No provincial nomination
- Test scores expired or are low even after retesting.
– Decline the application invitation.
- Upon declining, you will be returned to the pool of eligible candidates. You may be considered in future rounds if eligible. The cut-off scores vary from one round to another. Hence, you may not be invited later on if your present scores are below the cut-off score. In that case, you may have to make certain modifications.
- Improve the score
- Update the express entry profile.
- Suppose you don’t decline the invite or apply within 60 days; your profile is automatically removed from the pool of candidates. You need to reapply to be considered in future rounds.
- Fill up and submit a new express entry profile.
- Meet the desired eligibility criteria.
- Get re-accepted in the pool.
5. Submit an Express Entry profile: Not invited to apply
- If you are invited to apply within a year from your application, your express entry profile expires automatically. This date can be checked from your account. The profile is removed from the system, and you get notified about it.
- However, you may still create a new profile using the data available. Keep a print or screenshot of the data in your profile. Re-enter the data for creating a new profile.
- For profile withdrawal-
- Sign in to your account.
- Check “View the applications you submitted” from the main page.
- Click on the link, “Withdraw profile.”
- Select the option “Continue” to proceed.
If you do not create a profile, you won’t mention express entry on any of the job boards. Upon submitting a new profile, you will receive-
- Express Entry profile number
- Jobseeker validation code from Job Bank.
